This page provides some helpful information about the Society and your membership and has been produced primarily for the benefit of new members but should serve as a useful reminder to existing members.
Meetings start at 7:45pm. Name badges are provided for each member upon arrival and returned to the table at the end of the meeting. After the speaker, tea/coffee/biscuits (free) are provided, and the meeting usually finishes after this at round 9:30/9:45pm.
A calendar of meeting dates and other events are listed in the Membership Programme & Show Schedule provided to you upon joining/renewing.
Flower of the Month competition
At each meeting of the Society a “Flower of the Month” competition is held. Simply bring in a flower of your choice that you have grown in your garden, in a vase, to the competition table. Entries are judged on the evening by the guest speaker or another nominated judge. Each entry is judged individually on a scale of 1 – 10. At the AGM the winner for the year is announced and a Cup presented to the person with the highest average number of points. There is also a small cash prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
Gardening Sales Table
Members are encouraged to donate unwanted gardening items for sale to other members, with proceeds going towards the Society. Bring along to any regular meeting. Should any items remain unsold at the end of the evening these will have to be taken back by the person who donated them.
A raffle is held at each meeting. Donations of small prizes from members are most welcome. (wine, chocolates, unwanted gifts, etc). Tickets are £1 each or 6 for £5.

Your membership allows you a 10% discount at Garthowen Garden Centre, upon presentation of your Membership card, or Membership Programme & Show Schedule, as long as you spend more than £15 (excluding sale items and special offers).
